“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding.” — Proverbs 3:5

Sometimes love means loosening your grip. That’s the hardest thing a parent—or anybody—can do. Because we think holding on tight keeps us safe. But sometimes, holding on too tight just chokes the life out of the relationship.

Hear me: Letting go is not the same as letting loose. It’s not walking away in neglect—it’s stepping back in trust. Trusting that God has a plan for them bigger than your plan. Trusting that His hand can reach where your hand can’t.

If you don’t release it, you’ll ruin it. But if you trust God with it, He’ll redeem it. That’s why the Bible says Lean not on your understanding. Your understanding will make you micromanage, worry, and try to play Savior. But when you let go, you’re saying: “God, I trust You more than me.”

And don’t miss this—the Father Himself showed us how. He let His Son walk into Gethsemane. He let His Son walk up Calvary’s hill. He didn’t stop it, because the plan was bigger than the pain. And through His letting go, salvation came.

Reflection:

Prayer:

Father, I surrender. Take what I keep trying to control. Keep me loving, but keep me trusting. Teach me how to let go without losing love, because You never let go of me. In Jesus’ name, amen.
